Third Grade Science Units
During this unit we do all kinds of hands-on investigations designed to help us understand all the forms water can take and its many travels on our planet. Our study of water usually culminates with a field trip to Sweetwater Wetlands.
Another science unit for third grade is Earth Materials. We get to study rocks and minerals. Why are some sparkly or hard or soft? Where did they come from? How were they made?
Sound and Light
These are very familiar things that we each encounter every single day, but what really is sound? Can you think of a way that you could use it to splash water? If you can't figure that out now, you will soon know! We have
Finally, we have a fantastic unit on Ecosystems! Be prepared for an adventure! We'll spend a little time learning the basics of how ecosystems work. Things like who eats who? What is an adaptation? Once we each have an understanding of the components of all ecosystems, YOU decide which one you will become an expert on. You will have access to books, videos, the Internet, and anything else you think you need and we can get to help you (or your group) become our experts. We will decide as a team how and to whom you will present your project. Project??? Don't worry, we'll decide that as a team, as well.
